Are you ready to jump into blogging and increase your visibility online but unsure of the best way to start or how to build a successful blog that draws traffic?
This learner-driven workshop will answer those questions.
We'll teach you basic blogging tools and techniques, and by the end of the workshop you will have created your own blog at Wordpress.com. You'll also learn:

When you register, we will ask a few questions about your Web background, to help us focus the workshop at the right level. We are limiting class size to 20 people, to allow for the most personalized attention.
Bring your Wi-Fi enabled laptop! If you do not have one, please let us know and we will make arrangements to have a loaner for you that day.

JENNIFER NAVARETTE has been a tech entrepreneur since 2001 and is active in a number of social media communities. The San Antonio Express-News calls her a "new media guru," but it's a title she dislikes. She is the lead organizer of PodCamp, Startup Weekend and BarCamp in San Antonio, co-founder of Social Media Club San Antonio, and co-host of the popular Morning BrewCast Internet radio/podcast show. An early adopter, Jennifer has been podcasting since 2005. Her extensive knowledge of Web 2.0 tools and technologies, combined with her skills as a networker, keep Jennifer's schedule jam-packed. She is the owner of MyLabelNet.com, an online business-to-business printing service.
SHEILA SCARBOROUGH enjoyed a successful Navy career that included tours in Japan and the Netherlands before becoming a freelance writer specializing in travel, NHRA drag racing and social media/Web 2.0. She is a certified Master Training Specialist and former Associate Professor of Naval Science at the University of Florida, and an enthusiastic and knowledgeable speaker and teacher. Sheila has written for National Geographic Traveler, Texas Highways, Transitions Abroad, the Dallas Morning News, and the San Antonio Express-News. Her Family Travel blog was one of three "Best Travel Blogs" in Real Simple magazine and a "Best of the 'Net" in the UK’s Guardian newspaper. CONNIE REECE specializes in strategies for marketing and communications programs that use Web 2.0 tools and technologies. She is also a popular conference speaker. Presentation topics include social media, social networking, blogging and microblogging, podcasts and vlogs, virtual worlds, social bookmarking, marketing and advertising trends, blogger relations, public relations in the age of Google, and using social media for social good. In addition to being the founder of Every Dot Connects, Connie is a co-founding member and serves on the advisory board of the Social Media Club, an international best-practices association for emerging media professionals. When a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2007, Connie created the Frozen Pea Fund. Connie maintains office hours in the virtual world Second Life, where she enjoys teleporting around the grid to attend business events, educational seminars and casual get-togethers, or relaxing at her oceanside villa.
